For reconciliation purposes, nonadmitted insurers are required by the MID to furnish MSLA annual filings with specific information regarding the policies written and premiums collected during the prior year. MSLA reconciles the policy data submitted into SLIP by eligible Surplus Lines insurers with the policy data remitted on Monthly Tax Reports by Surplus Lines insurance producers.

Data Requirements

Nonadmitted insurers are requested to furnish MSLA with data pertaining to the policies written and premiums collected during the prior year, as it appears on the policy’s Declaration Page. The following policy data is required:

  • Policy Number
  • Insured Name
  • Premium
  • Policy Effective Date
  • Policy Expiration Date
  • Transaction Effective Date
  • Surplus lines insurance producer name or agency (person or entity responsible for reporting and paying the tax, stamping fee, and nonadmitted policy fee).

Annual Filing Due Dates

The annual policy data is due no later than March 15th for nonadmitted foreign insurers and June 1st for alien insurers.
